COVID-19 Updates

These are challenging times for everyone. The teachers and team at Los Patojos are doing everything possible to ensure our students and families are safe, healthy and have enough food on their tables.

We are continuing education at a distance where possible, using WhatsApp, and homework envelopes. Food packets are being delivered to over 110 families who have lost their income. In addition, with the help of a local women’s’ organization, we are able to provide medical attention to those in need. Now more than ever, our community needs us – and we need you.

Please donate to ensure that Los Patojos can continue to help the community in this time of unprecedented need.

Meet the Founder of Los Patojos

While working as a teacher in Guatemala, Juan Pablo Romero Fuentes saw his students struggling with many issues that his own generation had faced, including drug abuse and gangs. At the age of 23, he turned part of his family’s home into a community center and started Los Patojos, a nonprofit that has become a haven for children and youth.

In 2014, he was named a CNN Hero for his ongoing impact on the community.
